Among those backing the push is Clever Real Estate, Chief Strategy Officer Luke Babich who says the group calling itself "Missouri Business for a Fair Minimum Wage" represents a wide range of businesses. ...

The signatures were gathered by the group Raise Up Missouri, and a separate group Missouri Businesses for a Fair Minimum Wage announced its formation and support of the effort.

Supporters want to raise the minimum wage from $7.85 an hour today to $8.60 next year, eventually topping out at $12 an hour in 2023.

“In fact, paying our employees a fair wage means less turnover. It comes with reduced costs across the board. It’s about paying it forward, and not about paying more,” [Babich] said.
