SACRAMENTO -- A first-in-the-nation plan to gradually boost California’s minimum wage to $15 an hour over the next six years won the Legislature’s approval today after rancorous floor debates on whether the move would strengthen or harm families and the economy. Senate Bill 3, authored by Sen. Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, passed the Assembly on a 48-26 vote and cleared the Senate 26-12. The measure now heads to Gov. Jerry Brown, who quickly announced after the Senate vote that he would sign the legislation Monday in Los Angeles. ...
