COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) Should we raise the minimum wage across the state - that's one of the issues on your November ballot. We are talking with two business owners in Colorado Springs who are split on the issue.

The owner of the Old Town Bike Shop wants to see minimum wage spin forward.

"I strongly believe that it would help the economy overall," said owner John Crandall.

Under Amendment 70, the minimum wage would jump about a dollar, from $8.31 an hour to $9.30 an hour starting in January. It would continue to climb until it reaches $12.00 an hour in 2020.

"We're still well below the poverty level and that's my interest in at least trying to make up some of the gap we lost over the last several decades," said Crandall.

Crandall said if Amendment 70 passes, he may have to cut costs elsewhere, but he says it's worth it for his employees.

"I would certainly like to see that help a lot of people, which I think it would," he added. ...

Now it's up to the voters whether or not to up the minimum wage.

"To me it's just a matter of making up a little time," Crandall added. ...
