Hundreds of people from across Missouri rallied on the steps of the Capitol Thursday against two measures that aim to overturn initiatives voters passed in the November 2024 general election. ... Supporters of the paid sick leave portion of Proposition A say the repeal could disproportionately affect low-wage workers who don’t already receive paid time off.
"I met and talked with people who’ve never had sick leave before,” said Joe Chevalier, owner of Yellow Dog Bookshop in Columbia. “To have that taken away suddenly, after all the effort that went into getting it passed, is disappointing."
Chevalier added: “Republicans don’t seem to have any respect for the will of the voters … it’s yet another effort to overturn a widely supported proposition.” ...
